Making its first-ever appearance in a Warrior stick, Enigma 25K carbon fiber is truly the driving factor in the incredible weight reduction the Fantom QRE boasts. Unlike the traditional carbon weave, similar to what is in the QR Edge stick, Warrior used an extra flat carbon that creates thinner but denser layers throughout the shaft.

An easier way to look at it is that Warrior saved weight by using a carbon fiber that requires fewer layers to produce the same strength and responsive properties.. fewer layers = less weight!

This also creates a bigger "checkered" look to the carbon fiber on the shaft. Traditional carbon has small "checkers" that are about 1/4", the Fantom QRE's are 1 1/4"!

All in all, it's incredible to think that this stick makes other sub-400-gram sticks feel like tanks. It will take some getting used to and we'd recommend using it in practice before a game. Catching passes, in particular, requires forcing the stick down to meet the puck on the ice. In all seriousness, it almost feels like the Fantom is floating and you just might miss a pass or two until you're accustomed to it.

While the blade's feel for the puck isn't as prominent as other sticks, the weight of the puck provides a different sensation. Since the stick is so light, the puck provides more feedback since it makes the stick responds more. It's hard to put into words but the puck almost feels heavier since your stick is so light.

Even though this Fantom Line stands alone from the Covert and Alpha Lines, Warrior used their Edge Shaft Taper in the Fantom QRE. This refers to the part of the stick that transitions from the shaft into the blade. The Edge Taper first debuted in the 2018 QR Edge Line and has quickly become a crowd favorite for players looking for the quickest shot release possible.

The previous taper was called their Dagger Taper and did a good job producing a quick-releasing low kick point. Warrior's goal was to provide players with better accuracy by better stabilizing the area. The way they could do this was by creating a new taper that wouldn't twist on big shots or hard passes.

From that, the Edge Taper was born and offers much better stability in this key area through its unique geometry. During testing, Warrior noticed the Edge Taper did something else to a player's shot other than better accuracy.. it actually sped up the shot release too.

Even in 2019, the Edge Taper is one of the fastest releasing sticks on the market today, making it perfect for the crafty player that wants to puck on net as quickly as possible.
